California in Pictures

I've finally had a few moments to upload some California photos. It was an excellent trip with lots of exciting opportunities & a little bit of down time. Chelsea joined us as a belated birthday gift. She had a great time, too. Here's what we were up to during our 5 day jaunt to LaLa Land...

I made sure to keep up with my training each and every day. Here I am braving the chilly temps in the pool and working on my chest in the gym. Chelsea even joined me a couple of times. I'm glad we've managed to instill some exercise smarts into this young one! Teenagers can be tricky!


On Sunday we took a stroll along Rodeo Drive. Most of the stores were closed, but I couldn't help doing some window shopping. It's probably best I stick to this type of shopping anyway. My bank account doesn't like major sprees.


Here I am at makeup artist extraordinaire, Nancy Jambazian's house, where I ran into a VERY pregnant and super-cute Kim Lyons. Nancy made me look fabulous for my day at KTLA! Thanks lady!


Ever wonder what's inside the purse of a fitness fanatic? Apparently just a big mess of gum, sunglasses, my ever-important Blackberry & a half-eaten protein bar! What a disaster! What's in your purse?


Here I am with my publicist (thanks for driving), Silvie Bordeaux, & ECD Super Success, Allison Earnst. We are on our way to shoot EXTRA! It was an awesome day on location at Total Woman Gym & Day Spa. I'll let you know as soon as I get an air date.


After a long, but fun, day with EXTRA we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Ryan Seacrest's Boa on Sunset Boulevard where I ran into ECD fan Danielle. What a gem!

A Busy LA Morning... KTLA & The Balancing Act

It was a whirlwind morning at KTLA. I was up bright and early to get to the set for my 9:30am call time. Then the fun began. I served up 3 deliciously clean meals in under 5 minutes. It was fun and the crew really enjoyed it! Thanks to everyone at KTLA who made the morning such a hit. Who knew I could clear a table so quickly! Check out the video here. Tosca Reno hosts nationally syndicated TV show, Extra!

Toronto, ON – November 18th 2009 – Congratulations to Tosca Reno, who will be hosting the nationally syndicated television show, Extra, on Saturday, November 21st as part of their series, "America’s Best Lifechangers.”

Reno will share the stage with fellow health experts Dr. Kristi Funk, a renowned cancer specialist, and Dr. Armand Dorian, a top-notch emergency medicine practitioner. Reno will touch on the subjects of weight loss, the H1N1 flu virus, diabetes and cancer.

Post Sleep Extra Debrief !!

Now that I've slept off the red eye I wanted to give you a proper fill in on my trip to LA:

What a whirlwind the trip to LA was! Bob and I traveled to the sunny state on Tuesday with many travel hiccups unfortunately. We missed our connecting flight from NY to LA and found ourselves spending interminable hours in one airport after another. Even our cab driver missed his turn when we were looking for the hotel. Finally we got there, ordered a bucket of steamed broccoli and some grilled chicken and fell into a deep sleep once we were settled.

In the morning we needed to squeeze in some exercise so we did that and went for a quick walk over to Univeral Studios to check it out. It was already busy even that early in the morning.

By noon we arrived at the EXTRA studios ready to get to work. I had hair, makeup and wardrobe taken care of. While working out the outfit I saw Mario Lopez and Jennifer Love Hewitt working in the studio. They were filming for the regular EXTRA show. Mario is a hard worker! He is also training for a cover with us on Maximum Fitness just so you know.

It wasn’t long before I was escorted to the set where I met my co-hosts, Dr. Kristi Funk and Dr. Armand Dorian. Kristi is a renowned breast and cancer specialist while Armand is a top notch emergency medicine practitioner. I was in starry company! The three of us worked together filming the show to be aired next week Saturday. The show is called America’s Best Lifechangers. Don’t worry I will post accurate air time information as soon as I get it.

It is quite an honor to be invited to participate in this program that serves such an important medical purpose for North Americans.

Back...

Wow!!! What a whirlwind adventure to LA. I am totally exhausted. I will be cohosting an entire Lifechangers show! This is very exciting!! My husband I flew to LA on Tuesday to film EXTRA on Wednesday and took the red eye back to Toronto on Wednesday night. I will let you know the EXTRA air date as soon as I know. In the meantime, I am off to bed!!!!

Extra & Jay All in One Day!

Hello Sisters In Iron and Clean Eaters All!

I had such a fun day yesterday. We started with an early morning shoot for Extra on location in a beautiful Whole Foods. Sharon, the producer, is fun to work with. She knows what she wants and gets it done. I am feeling the Extra love! Nancy Jambazian did my beautiful makeup. She’s my go-to gal on the West Coast. We shot several fun segments for Extra’s show Lifechangers. I will keep you posted on air times. You can watch past clips here and here.

Then we raced over to NBC Studios in Burbank to hang with Jack LaLanne and his wife, Elaine, backstage at The Jay Leno Show. As I mentioned before, my husband, Bob, wrote the foreword to Jack’s new book, Live Young Forever. While there we met Al Michaels and Bob Costas and his wife Jill. Jay Leno came in and shook my hand and so did his musician, Kevin Eubanks. Nice people!

A buzz filled the corridor when the big man Vince Vaughn arrived – he was the featured guest of the night. He came in to shoot a few pics with us after the show. Yes that is me that he has his arm around. Did I mention how tall he is! What a thrill! He made an exciting announcement when he shared with us that he is engaged to a Canadian girl! This came in response to Jack’s question about whether Vince had any children. Vince said he would be working on it!

Today is another big day – Jack’s 95th gala birthday party is tonight! I get to walk the Red Carpet! More pictures and stories to come!

LA Here I Come

Rain, rain go away! Portland has been dreary and cold for my whole visit. Here's hoping LA is a little sunnier. Anyway, my daughter and I had a lovely time. I hope some of you were able to catch the AM Northwest segment this morning. If not check it out here. I am filming all day with Extra tomorrow and on Thursday I have a morning appearance on KTLA. I'll give you more details tomorrow.

The Longest Day EVER

For those of you who were following me on Twitter yesterday you know I had a VERY LONG day!

We were wrapping up the last bit of shooting for the Tosca Series that will be airing on the Viva Network in Canada. We have a tentative air date of June 9th. It might change (hopefully not) but you know I will keep you posted.

So I was up at 5am to get ready for the day and we didn't end until 11pm. WOW! I thought it would never ever end. We definitely got a lot done, though. We filmed training segments and on and on.

Today I am hoping to enjoy the weather a little bit. I'd like to take the pups for a walk. I also need to get my affairs in order for a trip to the west coast I'll be making at the end of the month. I'll be filming with Extra again!! Woohoo!! I can't wait.

I also wanted to give a big shout out to my forum members today. Lots of great questions and conversations going on these days. If you have any questions I recommend checking out the forum. These ladies and gents are true Sisters (and Brothers) in Iron and extraordinary Clean Eaters. Check it out!

Okay everyone... on with day. I think I'm going to make a delicious lunch. It's leg day today and I've got to keep myself fueled for a BIG workout!

Best solution??

Hop on a plane to LA.

That's what me and my hubby did this week. Unfortunately, our foray into the golden state only lasted 1 day. We flew in on Tuesday evening, filmed all day on Wednesday, and flew home on Thursday afternoon. Boo!!!

That is not the best thing to do. All I wanted was to soak up the sun for just a few more minutes before heading back to snow country.

BUT the time I had in LA was great. I was really nervous to work with the team from Extra. I was lying in bed on Tuesday night worrying away about how the day would go. Would they think I was unprofessional? Would I mess up? Would it not be interesting enough? All these things kept me up. When the day finally arrived and I started things went much more smoothly than I thought. We actually had a lot of fun. The feedback was great, too. I guess my work with Naomi producing the series for The W Network gave me a lot of practice. I felt totally at ease.

The show will air on March 7th. It is part of Extra's Ambush Lifestyle Makeovers. We ambushed a teen with diabetes. It was a really great day with an excellent message. I'll give you more details closer to the date.

Next time I am hoping to show Mario Lopez a few things in the gym!

On My Way Across the Country

Hey Bloggers,

Happy Monday to you. I am on my way to Denver, Colorado for a few meetings before heading to LA to film a bunch of stuff for Extra on Wednesday. Home again on Thursday.
