Coconut Oil

I absolutely love coconut oil for many reasons, my favorite brand is from Raw Elements. It is so delicious I eat it right off a spoon. Many of you are wondering how to eat it, keep these tips in mind:

  • You can eat a three tablespoons a day off the spoon or use it for cooking
  • It tastes wonderful and is heat stable so no free radicals are released in the heating process
  • Look or a fair trade, organic variety or try the Raw Elements coconut oil, I recommended above Store in a cool dark place
  • It's an amazing oil in which to stir fry your veggies
  • It can be used as moisturizer for your body, you can use it in your hair, and more!
  • Find out my secret tip for coconut oil in the video above.

Here is my favorite smoothie recipe including this delicious healthy fat!

Kiwi Coconut Citrus Smoothie

1 kiwi, peeled
1 orange, peeled
1/4 cup frozen raspberries
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 cup plain Greek-style yogurt
1 Tbsp coconut oil
Pinch nutmeg
Pinch cinnamon
1 tsp fresh lime juice

Puree all ingredients. If the smoothie is too thick, add a bit of water and blend again.

  4. Lovely recipe! I want to try it! By what could I replace the protein powder? Would chia seeds do the trick?

  8. Can we really have 3 Tbsp a day of coconut oil? Mine says 14g of fat per Tbs, that eats up a lot of fat for the day. I would love to have it b/ i love coconut oil but i just wanted to make sure.
    THanks so much!!

  11. I use coconut oil as a moisturizer! It's better than olive oil because it doesn't have an oily consistency and absorbs quickly into my skin! Of course, I cook with it too! That's some good stuff!

  12. I love coconut oil, but my husband does not. He can tell in an instant if I have cooked something in it. Is there a type that does not have a coconut taste?
