An Update on Bob's Health

Robert in Chelsea, London UK
This is a sad, sad time for our family and for all of us, but I wanted to let you know about Bob’s health.  Despite his and all of our greatest efforts to fight lung cancer, it now appears that he will not be successful with his treatments, and unfortunately his condition is terminal.  At this point we do not know how long he has, but we don’t think it is very long.  He was able to meet with Arnold yesterday for a couple of hours which was an inspiration to Bob in this difficult time.  It was nice to see the sparkle in Bob’s blue eyes once again.  The two legends even flexed!

We will soon be losing a wonderful person, father, great leader and inspiration for both the Company and this industry at large.  However Bob’s life’s work, dedication and impact on bodybuilding, fitness and health and the support and inspiration to 10’s of millions of people will continue through all of you.

Your continued thoughts and prayers are appreciated beyond words,

Tosca Reno

  77. As a young teen reading Roberts articles on bodybuilding I was inspired and in awe of the popular bodybuilders. However, it wasn't until I reached 50 years old and had lost 95 pounds (eating healthy), that I pursued my dream of bodybuilding, entering my first contest. Robert and Arnold planted the seeds that finally got me to find a healthier lifestyle. Our deepest sympathies.

  119. Aloha Tosca✿

I met Bob over 20 years ago in Hawaii when he came over to shoot for a competition I was in..He invite me to do a photo shoot & the rest is history. We became fast friends and I was fortunate to do many more photo shoots with Bob in Hawaii, Maui and Vegas.. He believed in me and gave me a lot of support over the last 20 years. He was so comforting when I lost my husband to a senseless murder 10 years ago. Bob gave me a lot of great advice and support during one of the most difficult times of my life. My heart goes out to you Tosca, Bob's children and your whole family during this hard time. I wish I could see Bob one more time and give him a big HUG and kiss...I love him dearly and thank him for everything he did for me.. The world will never be the same without Bob in it. Much Love & Aloha <3

  170. Wow,Im so sorry Tosca. You and Bob Changed my life literally I would say saved my life. Years ago I picked up my first issue of Oxygen mag and I was living lets say a VERY unhealthy lifestyle. His words of inspiration and motivation just spoke to me like no other. Through his books and magazines I felt like I personally knew him as a friend who every month checked in on me and supported me and motivated me to become my best self.(Tough Love Bob) I did become my best self through Oxygen magazine I transformed my body which in turn transformed my life. Then I became a stronger woman having the convidence to fufill my goals and dreams. Because of your story I was able to leave a toxic relationship with two kids and no money, no job, just a prayer and a Gym membership a gift to myself for christimas and a free year subscription to Oxygen and Clean Eating mags.
( because Bob was so kind to help those of us who were laid off) In 2006 you came along with the eat clean series and I had my big Aha moment! I always wanted to be a personal chef but I wanted to cook clean healthy foods but I really couldnt pin point how to prepare them or just pull it all together. The books you've written have enlightened me, educated me, and so many others. It seems like when I need encouragement or a new fresh idea in my career as a Chef or Training Oxygen has NEVER failed me. I started getting clients who wanted clean vegetarian options I was running out of ideas I flipped through a issue of oxygen and there was the AD announcing in April Eat Clean Vegetarian I couldn't beleive it!!! Last Month I went through some seriously difficult issues in my life and I hadnt been so low in years I didnt go to the Gym for four days I cancelled my cliets for a week.I was sitting home I just recieved my April issue of Oxygen mag. Your Piece "I'm Here for You" My issue wasnt really about weight but the box Tosca's Tip spoke to me it said. " When Things get so negative in your life that you want to hide and stop taking care of yourself, that is precisely the time to get tough on yourself and keepup with training and eating clean. It lifts you out of the Doldrums and back into the relm of possibility once again. I will forever keep this piece and refer to it time and time again and everytime remembering Bob and how much this man means to so many people and how many peoplelives including mine he has changed for the better. I grew up with Bob guiding me through so many hard times and using fitness and eating right to be the best me and so I can come out on top of whatever I set out to do. No other magazines or publishers touch people like this not Shapt, Not fitness, not womens health. I feel like Oxygen is a familyand Im going to miss Tough Love from Bob! Well we are blessed to still have you tosca God Bless you and your husband Tosca you'll forever be in my prayers!

Testimonial Written by: Mike Glass Productions®

For over five decades Bob Kennedy crossed America and for that matter the World illustrating health, fitness, bodybuilding and the best magazines on the planet. It was Bob Kennedy who opened up more doors for more athletes, models, competitors and fans then thousands collectively could open in many lifetimes.

I was personally so fortunate to have worked with Mr. Kennedy and his magazines with our Model Quest America® and Universe Series® 2001-2004. Mr. Kennedy had won the Editor of the Decade at our 1991 “Academy of Bodybuilding Fitness and Sports Awards®”held in California.

It goes without saying, that all we are, where we’ve been; in the health fitness and bodybuilding industry over those five long decades could never have happen the way it happen without guidance and over whelming perseverance by Mr. Bob Kennedy.

Together Bob Kennedy and trusted liaison; Mr. Johnny Fitness helped paved the way for us all we are. We are indeed much appreciated of all the work and undying legacy collectively.

When Bob Kennedy spoke through his editorials, the ground shook people listened he made you think and take account of your life and health.

Let’s all take our energy and visualize Bob Kennedy getting renewed and transformed.
