We're Cleansing... Ionic Cleansing & Cooler 1

Wow!!! Sounds like a lot of people are on board for the Pre-Arnold Cooler 1 Challenge for the next 2 weeks. We're two days in so far. How is everyone doing?? I'm feeling a little tired, but that could be because I spent all day flying to Portland, OR to visit my daughter, Rachel. I made sure to pack along my "eat clean" treats suitable for crossing the border (think no fruits or meats). Once I passed security I filled up my water bottle and managed to find a clean meal. It IS possible to do that at the airport. No excuses!

Seems a lot of you were really interested in the ionic cleanse, too. It was such a great experience. I was really tired afterwards, but apparently that is normal. My "cleanser" told me that I did pretty well because I was so relaxed. Most people get concerned with the combination of electricity and water and have a hard time relaxing. I was just happy to be sitting down for an hour with my feet in hot water. It does feel a bit strange at first. It's like having little fishies nibbling at your toes.

The water showed that I am a little low on calcium so I'm going to look into a supplement since I don't consume too many dairy products, and apparently my healthy greens aren't making up for it. Could be the lack of Vitamin D lately, too. It really is time for winter to be over.

Check out the pics below of my Ionic Cleanse Experience... WARNING!!! THEY ARE NOT PRETTY!!!!

  1. Thanks for sharing Tosca. Interesting about the Ionic Cleanse. I had not heard of that kind of cleanse. I am with ya on ugly feet, not yours... lol just feet in general. :)

  2. I've been doing clean eating since the beginning of January and have lost 18lbs so far, in combination with a workout plan of course.
I'll be going on vacation in 2 weeks, that's why I just today started the cooler 1 plan.
Plain oatmeal with wheat germ and flaxseed for breakfast.... what should I say?? It took me 20 minutes just to finish this, it's pretty disgusting.
may be tomorrow I'll cut 1/2 of my daily aplle into this because I don't think I can do plain oatmeal for 2 weeks

  4. Hi Tosca,
I have a question about the cooler 1 plan. Whatever weight I lose during the two weeks of cooler 1, wouldn't I just gain back as soon as I start back on cooler 2?

    Thanks!

  5. Sorry Tosca, those aren't toxins coming out of your feet.

Besides, following the guidelines in your Eat Clean Diet, there is no need to detoxify, you are doing it naturally.

Here's what happens with the cleanse you experienced...

"The water your feet are in undergoes electrolyzation. This allows rapid corrosion of the iron electrodes in the foot bath. Ferric oxides to the chemist, or rust to most everyone else ultimately turns the water yellow then brown.

Insoluble iron precipitates float as scum to the top too."

    It's just rust.

This is something that has been used in countless 'air purifiers' as well to make people think the air they breath is full of crud.

You might have seen those commercials where they take out the bucket of water from the purifier and it's incredibly brown.

    Same thing.

  6. Tosca...I've been reading a lot about using coconut oil in protein shakes and cooking to increase the thyroid? What is your opinion on this subject?

  7. tosca, in your updated eat clean diet book you mention cooking oatmeal overnight in a slow cooker? what is your recipe for that so that it doesn't come out dry? do you put the bee pollen and flaxseed in there as well?

i love the expanded version of the book. i have all of your books and they are such a great reference. Good luck with cooler plan 1! i'm still trying to get the less strict cooler plans down so once i master those i'm going to try cooler 1 for two weeks.

  8. Hi Tosca,
I want to know why in the Clean Eat book Cooler 1 apple a day is allowed but now you say no "Fruit" in the blog a few days ago? I'm confused and I don't want to get discouraged, should I not eat fruit in Cooler 1 even if its only for 2 weeks, will it affect my results? I hope you have time to respond. Good Luck at the Arnold!
P.S You do have nice feet!!

  11. That water looks nasty! Is it "chunky"? Yuck! How can they tell that you're low in calcium? Just curious!

  12. Ionic Cleanse Q:
If one lacks Vitamin D does that mean your calcium goes down?
    Please clarify?

  13. Hi Tosca,

When you began eating cleaning and when you lost 60+ pounds, how many days were you running? I usually do cardio 5 days through the week because I'm trying to lose weight. I know I have good muscle tone, you just can't see it because of the fat. Also do you find it hard to stick to Cooler 1? What is the max number of weeks you will do Cooler 1?

  14. Tosca,
When do you think is the best time to do cardio to burn fat? I've read different things about when to do cardio. For example, in the mornings or evenings? Just wondered what your thoughts were on this.

  16. Tosca I have a differnt kind of question. Alot of times when I'm working out...during the last few reps or sets...I sometimes feel I can't do it...a bit of anxiety follows. I get through it...but I don't like that feeling like I just want to stop when it gets a little to tough. But if you don't continue...your muscle don't grow. Do you every feel like that and if you do or don't can you suggest how to get over that feeling. I really luv working out, luv the results, even the pain :), but that little voice saying "I can't just stop" really upsets me. I hyperventalated about 10 years ago for other reasons...and sometimes I think it'll happen again. But this sport requires you to breathe, so how do I over come this? Any wise advise. :')

  17. Tosca~ if you have 60 lbs worth of plates on a 40 lb bar...are you squating 100 lbs or 60 lbs?

  18. Hi Tosca,

I've been eating clean and doing cardio for 30 minutes. To help aid in my weight loss is doing 45 to 60 minutes of cardio more beneifical than 30 minutes? I've read in your book that you did 30 mintues of cardio. Will doing more cardio help with losing weight more quickly? Of course, we all want our weight to come off quickly. But I know it takes hard work and dedication. Just wanted to know your thoughts. Thank you!

  21. Hi Tosca, I have to agree with the earlier poster about these foot baths. I had spent about $1,000 on these for my son and I, only to find out that they are a hoax. Please read more on Dr. Weil's website here to avoid spending your hard earned cash...Blessings
