Happy Eat-Clean Halloween! Recipes, Giveaways and More.

Vegan Coconut Butter Chia Seed Eyeballs
That magical day is upon us as we greet Halloween and the many excitements it brings. Not only is this a great time to try out new costumes, it's also a great time to try out new recipes.

We are bombarded with sweet treats at this time of year. Why not make your own healthy versions. And since this is the last day of Clean Carb October, I've got the perfect recipe for you.

Zain Jamal was working in the kitchen yesterday whipping up Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Back Pack Kisses from The Eat-Clean Diet Vegetarian Cookbook and a few creative changes later she wound up with Vegan Coconut Butter Chia Seed Backpack Eyeballs!

Halloween Recipe: Vegan Coconut Butter Chia Seed Backpack Eyeballs
*** Note - all measurements are exactly the same as the original recipe just using different ingredients.

½ cup (120 ml) old-fashioned rolled oats *I used uncontaminated oats (gluten-free)
¼ cup (60 ml) vegan unsweetened protein powder (try Sun Warrior Raw Vegan Protein Powder and receive a discount by entering code: TOSCA)
2 Tbsp (30 ml) hulled hemp seeds *I used unsweetened coconut
2 Tbsp (30 ml) flaxseed, cracked * I used whole black chia seeds
¼ cup (60 ml) unsweetened dried cranberries *I used apricots (for the orange, but papaya or dried pumpkin would work too)
¼ cup (60 ml) vegan semisweet natural chocolate chips
Pinch sea salt *I used Himalayan Crystal Salt
1 cup (240 ml) all-natural peanut butter, sugar and salt free *I used all-natural coconut butter
2 Tbsp (30 ml) brown-rice syrup, yacon syrup or pure honey *I used raw wildflower honey, but can sub syrup for vegans

  1. I made CLEAN Coconut Mounds yesterday, and they were super delicious. My family loved them! The other day I made the Ooey Gooey Banana Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding from the Eat Clean Vegetarian Cookbook...SO GOOD! Happy Halloween!

  2. My fav is to make sure I eat a clean breakfast, it sets the tone for the day. On busy days, smoothies with protein powder are my breakfast on the go!

  3. My Fav super quick and easy way to overcome the craving for candy is to have a date with an almond stuffed inside. No prep - instant sweet tooth killer. Now, it doesn't have protein but it does the trick like nothing else for me. :)

  4. I make a delicious vegan/sugar free pumpkin pie smoothie that is sweetened with a little stevia and maple syrup! You can find the recipe here:

  5. I bring my food along with me as usual, and if I'm feeling tempted, I make some of my favourite clean treats (anything with peanut butter!). Giving into unhealthy foods makes me look and feel terrible, and they'll just take me farther from my goals!

  6. Recipes like yours are a way I stay clean during halloween! there are so many healthy sweet treats you can make that won't even make you miss candy! i love making date balls or chocolate protein muffins. you can even make homemade healthy chocolate sauce and bites. super yum and quick and easy to grab!

  7. I make everything with pumpkin puree, and avoid the desire to have candy!

  8. Not to buy candy or junk and have it in the house.

  9. I always make sure I buy candy that I don't like to give the the spooks and goblins who come to the door. AND I make sure I have a big pot of soup waiting for me when they all go home. Something savory is always a favorite reward/treat for me!

  10. This year I didn't buy any Hallowe'en "treats" for the trick or treaters until last night. That way I was tempted to eat anything I really don't need. Taking away the temptation really makes a difference! In previous years we'd usually have to go & buy more treats by the time tonight came around! I've also realized how badly I feel when I eat these things after eating clean for awhile now!

  11. Halloween also happens to be my mom's birthday! We are both Eating Clean so I made her a clean chocolate cake for her birthday that we are going to enjoy tonight after work with a scary movie!

Perfect thing to keep us out of the candy and chocolate!

  12. I mix a chopped apple with some lemon juice and cinnamon, microwave until soft, and then add some walnuts--Yummy!

  13. I made a triple batch of healthy pumpkin mini muffins with chia, coconut oil, and flax for my family and neighbors :)

  14. I try to pretend that Halloween isn't happening. Easier to do without kids!

  15. My trick is to eat clean before leaving with the kids and making sure that I will not get hungry down the road by packing healthy snacks.

  16. Pumpkin protein smoothies for the whole family for an after school snack and we are the family who hands out carrots!!

  17. This is my first Eat Clean Halloween. My plan is to stick to the ECD principles all day and make sure everyone gets a good dinner before trick-or-treating.

  18. To keep it clean during the holidays.I have a lot of pumkin oatmeal :)

  19. homemade Lora Bars...sooo easy!!

  20. Who needs FAKE sugar when there are homemade nut butters to be had. YUUUUUUUMY!!!!

    Luvena Cervantes

  21. Eat healthy meals with real, clean foods. Drink water throughout the day. Bake a healthy treat to enjoy!

  22. Eat clean throughout the day and afterwards enjoy cacao covered doesn't get sweeter and cleaner than that :-)

  23. I always make sure to have some sweet veggies on hand like beets, red peppers, & Sweet Gherkin pickles! Who needs candy?!

    xoxo, Grether
