The Number Games

Hi!  My name is Christina and I'm the girl behind The Athletarian, a blog which documents my health and fitness journey.  I am often asked how many calories I eat and what my diet is like.  My answers to those questions two years ago would have been very different to how I would respond today.

Reading nutritional labels and obsessing over the number I saw on the scale used to feel like a part-time job for me.  I was into fat-free and low-calorie foods, as well as diet fads and calorie restriction.  I didn’t care what my food was made of, as long as the nutritional stats met my so-called needs.  I counted every morsel of food that I put into my mouth, ensuring that it didn’t exceed what I thought was “normal” for me.  I wasn’t healthy, and it took me a long time to realize that.

I spent countless hours in book stores trying to educate myself on healthy lifestyles and then one day it hit me.  Tosca’s original book, The Eat-Clean Diet, was staring me right in the face.  I started to read it and everything just made sense.  I became hooked and changed my perspective on healthy eating immediately.  My focus shifted from calorie counting to eating wholesome and quality foods.  The Eat-Clean Diet is not a diet.  I know you’ve heard it numerous times and I’ll say it again.  It’s a lifestyle.  If you want to look and feel your best, ditch the obsession with calories and hide your scale.  If you are eating a diet made up of lean proteins, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates, you will not have to worry about the numbers.

The principles of The Eat-Clean Diet changed my life.  I am healthier, stronger, and more aware than ever before.  Food is no longer my enemy, but rather the fuel and energy that keeps me going one beautiful day at a time!

Feel free to follow me on my blog, Facebook, and Twitter for inspiration, motivation, and clean recipes! And don't forget to stop by today for the chance to win 1 of 3 Eat-Clean Diet books!
