Finding Out What Works

Today we have return guest blogger, Amanda Mountain. Share her message of finding what works for your physical health, keeping your mental, emotional and spiritual elements connected, too. Thanks Amanda.

After deciding to take charge of my health and wellness, I started realizing that in order to succeed; I needed to find a particular balance.  Although it has only been a short time, I found that becoming healthy wasn’t just about eating less junk but finding balance that works best for me.  Everyone’s bodies are different so everyone needs to adjust their lifestyles differently; however I found that a few staple actions really work for me.

1. Practicing Yoga:
My favorite form of yoga is Bikram Yoga, it has seriously changed my life.
Bikram Yoga helps to rejuvenate the body, reduce stress and relieve any tension. The heat helps to warm up the muscles and aids the body in detoxification which is the best feeling. This magic formula combined with regular practice brings rapid improvement in body shape, fitness, overall health and mental well-being.

2. Hiring a Nutritionist:
This may sound extreme but I hired a nutritionist, I needed someone to help teach me more about nutrition, and help me plan a personalized regime.  My nutritionist and friend, Teshia, has really opened my eyes and made my passionate about nutrition and taking care of my inner ecosystem.

3. The Eat-Clean Diet:
In addition to my nutritionist, I started only eating clean.  Before, I would try to eat clean whenever it was convenient or if I wanted to lose weight, but now it means much more than that. Tosca and the ECD have really taught me what it means to eat clean and how beneficial it is to our bodies.  On the ECD you eat the foods that make you look AND feel incredible and full of life.  Tosca’s books have taught me how to eat, her cookbooks have taught me how to cook, and her attitude has taught me to love my body enough to take care of it.

4. Don’t be Afraid to Try New Things:
As I mentioned before, each body is different and need different things. Some people need to eliminate gluten, soy, sugar or meat from their diets and some people need to add protein, cleanses and certain minerals/vitamins.  But what I’ve learned is that sometimes we need to experiment with different things to find how our bodies react and what works best.  For me, I’m trying to eat less meat and find protein from leafy greens, grains and more plant-based protein sources and ramping up the alkalinity in my diet.
Sometimes people need to try new ways of eating to find out what exactly works best for them, so don’t be intimidated but rather enjoy the process.

Those 4 staples have already helped me feel better on the inside and out, and it’s only the beginning of my journey.  I encourage you to take control of your bodies and find your balance, whatever that may be, as life is too short not to.

All the best in your journey,

Amanda Mountain

  1. I just finished my sessions with a nutritionalist. I know about nutrition, but I needed someone to chat with and learn more.

She introduced me to new foods to try and push the water consumption - something I was lacking severely!
