When I tell people that I’m a Figure competitor, they usually ask, “How many hours do you spend in the gym?” I love the look on people’s faces when I tell them I’m rarely in the gym for more than an hour.
Some don’t believe me when I say that what I eat is far more important the time I spend working out.
Before I began my own fitness journey a year ago, I wouldn’t have believed it either. I always thought that I could eat whatever I wanted as long as I spent hours on the treadmill or the elliptical. I avoided lifting heavy weights because I didn’t want to get “bulky”. The myriad of confusing and misleading information about how to get fit and stay fit caused me to fall victim to fad diets, all of which produced results early on, but were never sustainable. I knew there was an athletic, toned body underneath all those layers of fat, but would I ever see it?
Years of drastic weight fluctuations and declining self-confidence put me on a quest for a permanent solution to the stubborn chub that had taken over my body. I always thought having a strong, healthy body was temporary and difficult to achieve. That is, until I discovered the original Eat-Clean Diet book in my local bookstore. I was fascinated by Tosca’s personal journey and no-nonsense approach to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This is what I had been searching for!
Not long after I discovered Eating Clean, I began training with online fitness coach, Cathy Savage, who whipped me into shape for my first Figure competition last September.
My “Inner Fit Girl” is free and she’s not going anywhere!
