Trail Run in Honor of Bob

Martina, Maureen, Michelle, Giselle, Kiersten and me!
On the weekend amongst a light dusting of snow flakes, 6 game and slightly silly women along with our two dogs Maggie and Davidson, ran a trail run in honor of Bob. There was NO option to wimp out because of the cold though it was tempting.

We bundled up and hit the rough terrain of an escarpment trail hoping to complete the 8 kilometer trail in good time. We had two groups of participants. Three women would walk/hike the trail while the other three ran it. Giselle, Kiersten and myself ran ahead with the dogs. Maggie, our border collie/black lab rescue dog was our pace girl. Davidson kept us on the right path. Behind us walked my sister Martina and friends Maureen and Michelle. We enjoyed our outing as we leapt over exposed tree roots, marshy bogs, rock cliffs, ups and downs and steep hills. Every step of the way I thought of Bob and heard him pushing me on.

There are many moments when there is a heavy sadness in me but there are also many more moments when I am filled with gratitude for his brilliant and colorful guidance.  I will have this in me forever and I am grateful.

I will do it again this weekend, Bob, and in the meantime I am training hard in the gym.

Every day is a work day!

P.S. I'd also like to send a special birthday shout out to my daughter, Kelsey-Lynn, she turns 21 today! Hurray!

I thought of you this past weekend, Tosca, when I spied this treasure while shopping with a friend. It made me think of my mother...and then of you and Bob.

You need one of these too.

  7. Tosca, I admire how you push forward. Bob would not want it any other way. As I read his letter in the May issue and see his picture in the new cookbook, I still can't believe he is gone from this earth. We can only hope he is with his son again and they are both Iooking out for all of their girls. Xoxox
