Now that I've managed training for a triathlon, I think it's time to try a half-marathon, too. Would you like to join me? The Eat-Clean Diet team will be competing in the Goodlife Fitness Toronto Marathon in support of Team Diabetes. Many Robert Kennedy Publishing employees of all physical fitness backgrounds will be joining the event. You can participate in the full marathon, the 1/2 marathon or even the run/walk option. We at the Eat-Clean Diet work hard to educate everyone on the importance of eating a healthy diet to avoid developing and alleviate symptoms of chronic ailments, such as diabetes. As the number of North Americans afflicted with diabetes increases each year I am hoping you too will join me and my team in support of Team Diabetes to spread the word and stop the trend!

ReplyDeleteTosca i'm doing a half-marathon in barbados in December. I would love to get some tips on training and nutrition from you! It's great youv'e set a new goal... an inspiration to us all!!! Janelle
ReplyDeleteSweet that is awesome!! I am training for my first 1/2 Marathon as well the Goodlife Fitness Victoria Marathon Ive been running like a crazy lady!! Question is how to balance it with Weight training I have been following the program to a T for the running!
ReplyDeleteawesome! I'm running a marathon October 10th but if I can convince the hubby, I'll do both!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your training! I completed my first 1/2 marathon 1 week ago and it wasn't nearly as grueling as I thought it would be. I'd even do another! If I didn't live on the other side of the country I would most certainly join you! One tip; make sure that you take the time to stretch so that your muscles stay healthy.

I did the Good Life 1/2 marathon last year.. It was really fun! I was motivated by Silken Laumenn who was walking the half.. but was really close to me.. so i made myself run faster so that she didn't beat me!! I'm training for my 3rd 1/2 marathon that is happening locally in Thunder Bay, ON... Miles with the Giant!
ReplyDeleteI just ran my first half marathon in Ottawa, May 30th, the day you were in Belleville.
ReplyDeleteI knew I was missing an opportunity to meet you, but I am so happy to report I finished first half and look forward to another, but not this quick!
Have a great time with your team.
Will you be posting your training schedule/plan? Do you have a start date for training? I'd love to follow along with you!
ReplyDeleteTosca, as a veteran marathoner/ultramarathoner and triathlete, and a clean-eater, I'd LOVE to see an Eat-Clean book specifically for athletes (runners and other sports that require more carbs than 2-3 servings a day). A book full of clean recipes would be amazing! Good luck in Toronto!
ReplyDeleteTosca is there a group going to meet before / after etc... will you be starting with the group?? This is a great motivator for me - I have run 2 previous 1/2's (on the waterfront) but thought I'd do the Goodlife Toronto (1/2) Marathon this year. It would be so much fun and great to meet you too... my sister in law's name is Tosca :-)) she loves you!! and I've got friends who are also big fans !!!! me too... Jacinta
ReplyDeleteI will be running the Toronto 1/2 marathon with diabetes too! I am registered already and have raised money. Is there a way that I can join your team??
ReplyDeleteOoookay! I thought about it for a few days, and now SIGNED UP. Very excited - and nervous! Guess I'd better start training!
ReplyDeleteI've done this 1/2 marathon twice and the full once. It's great for your first long race since it's flat. The out and back course is either good or bad depending on how you look at it - good because once you are at the turnaround you know how to giage the distance and what's ahead of you, and bad because of those same reasons. It's all a matter of perspective. There is also a great 1/2 in Oakville on Labour day. It's also flat and not a big race so it would be great as a training long run to get the feel of a race.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, it will be alot of fun!
